Reading through The Chronicle’s fora, I have seen much about how you shouldn’t edit anthologies.
This article is about an instructor who did it and for whom it worked out well, despite many difficulties. A positive thing about that article is that the author turned around a rejection. The work was rejected for a series, but the author asked for it as stand alone. That worked.
One thread actually said edited collections are a good thing. And I’m glad for that, since I’ve sent off to three or four this year. (I forget.) I really need to work on these more/better. I’m not sure what I should be doing with them, but I know I need better work.
