Iassen Ghiuselev has some amazing illustrations. I like others of his better, but I think it might be fun to show my students various Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland illustrations.

I was in London years ago (God, what a pretentious was to start a comment), and there was a massive exhibit of Salvador Dali pieces. Some of what was on display (and, apparently, for sale) were his illustrations of the Bible and Dante’s Inferno. They were small, about the size of a page from a paperback, done, if I remember correctly, in ink. They were outstanding. I don’t remember if he had illustrations for Alice in Wonderland, but he does have a statue of his interpretation of Alice that kept me riveted to it for a long time.
I love the idea of being able to show students how other artists have conceptualized and visualized literature.
Lee, Thanks for the heads-up on Dali and Alice.
Dali’s illustrations of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, as well as a picture of the statue, are available at Uncommon Nonsense.
