Images!

The British Library has released over a million images onto Flickr Commons for anyone to use and repurpose.

Yay!

. Each image is individually addressible, online, and Flickr provies an API to access it and the image’s associated description.

We may know which book, volume and page an image was drawn from, but we know nothing about a given image.

That’s a little more problematic. But, since I really need some images of Gulliver, if they have any of his novels online, I can probably find them that way.

This will (eventually at least) seriously help my students with their digital projects, as they earn extra points if all their images are a) good and b) public domain or Creative Commons.
