Same curriculum = same class?

No way. Pittsburgh has hired Kaplan to write their new school curriculum. ” . . Teachers in other districts have complained that Kaplan’s detailed curriculum turned them into automatons and deprived them of time to cover material in adequate detail or help students with individual needs.” (via Joanne Jacobs)

I can see where if they tell you what to do every minute that kind of reaction would happen. But how many people follow a curriculum guide that detailed to the letter? (I don’t.)

Just yesterday I was reading Critical Mass about Bob Dionne’s experience with two teachers who had the same textbook and how different they were. (This WAS at the community college level.)

I think the second is a lot more accurate/common than the first.
