Teaching Fairy Tales in college is a little odd, I admit. But they are literature and I have to teach how to analyze literature. Starting with fairy tales is good because 1) it is easy and 2) it isn’t sad. (Unless you do the Matchgirl.) So I’m going to teach fairy tales in college English.
It is for my freshman composition course, not my comp and lit course. But the students need an intro to lit and this is a quick, fun, and different way to introduce literature.
Maybe I should write a paper on it and submit it. Someday when I have time I will.
I am doing that paper at CCTE the first week in March, 2009.
