  1. I think there are a couple of things to take into account regarding studying habits.

I think students are more resourceful because they have more resources. Due to the internet, students are also astutely aware of what is required to move on to the next step. Before the internet, students had very little understanding of how exactly the system worked. Now, students make the system work for them. For instance, Cliff Note Guides (book) turned into SparkNotes.com, picking classes easier with ratemyprofessor.com, homework answers on cramster.com, so on and so forth. I guess a more crude way to my point is that students have learned the art of getting-by with less effort by utilizing the vast pools of enablers who offer tips, tricks, and essays online.

I would like to mention that this phenomenon extends beyond academia into the realm of the workforce. In fact, my boss just designed a spreadsheet yesterday with copy-pasted formulas from various” “how to” sites that were beyond his comprehension. Sure, the report satisfied the needs of his superiors, however, he will need to google those codes again to recreate such detailed stats. The plus-side for the company is that they do not have to hire a data analyst at a premium price when they have a suitable hack who can offer the same exact report.

FYI: I am a seasoned college student who so happens to work at a corporation.
