MLA: New Media and Blogging

This is a live blogging of the session.

In all the panels, the bloggers are placed at the back of the room. When one of the bloggers for the “Literature and/as New Media” asked for folks to speak up, she/we were reprimanded. “It’s a roundtable. How can we use the podium?” and “There are seats at the front. You can move if you want to move.”

There is something ironic about a presentation on digital media dissing the blogger contingent which was placed in the room by MLA. Perhaps that is a political issue with the digital isolated and separated, but why would we respond so negatively/defensively to limitations given to the periphery by the powerful?
